A Blog Challenge

It’s summer and all the CSI, Law and Order, and NCIS shows are reruns. There’s not much interesting on television. (There, you know what kind of television shows I like.) On Saturday after a crazy, busy day of housework, I needed something relatively mindless to watch. A friend had given me the DVD of Julia & Julie so I popped in the DVD and sat down to be entertained.

As the story progressed, I realized that I identified with young Julie. I’ve thought the same things that she has about blogging: “Is anyone out there? Does anyone ever read the blogs I write? Do I say anything important? Does anyone care?”  Blogging is somewhat of a challenge for me. I like to write and express my thoughts and feelings (and hopefully what I write is helpful to someone), but I guess I’m not so vain as to think that my words are so saturated with insight that my readers are hanging upon every word with great anticipation and waiting for my next blog entry.

That’s when the idea  hit! Should I have a blog challenge, too? Should I set up a goal and, like Julie Powell, challenge myself to meet this goal, and if I did, what would that goal be? The idea has nagged at me all week and become more intriguing as the week’s gone one. If I created a blog challenge for myself, what would you, my readers, want to see?

I’m off to Richmond this morning to sell books at HEAV for CAP. Joanna and I have a five-hour trip, plenty of time to think. Maybe I’ll come back with my own blog project. If I created a challenge, I’d like to involve you, my readers, so if you have ideas, let me know.

In the movie, Julie’s blog readership grew larger and larger, and with great anticipation, they awaited each new entry about her cooking escapades. I want my readership to grow, too, but in order to make that happen, I must faithfully post new thoughts that inspire and point to God and His faithfulness. If you have any thoughts, let me know. And, I’ll be waiting to see how my thoughts have produced when I arrive home from Richmond this Saturday.

And if you live in Richmond, come and say hi to Joanna and me.

I’m glad you’re there. Thanks for passing on the word about the God’s Great Covenant series. Tell others about the blog, too. I like getting people’s comments. I haven’t come up with my own blog challenge, but your comment has brought it to my attention again. Thanks.
