GGC for Older Children

“What do you have for my fifth grader?”

That’s a question I often get asked at homeschool fairs.  At first I didn’t know how to respond to that question. The God’s Great Covenant series is designed as a four-year curriculum to start as early as second grade. Could a fifth grader start in Book 1 and not be bored?

Although GCC: Old Testament – Book 1 is written in simple language, I think that even an adult could read the stories and learn something new. But was this enough to attract an older child?

Then the idea came to me — buy the teacher’s book for your fifth grader. Each chapter of the teacher’s manual has many sidenotes that your child could easily read and understand, and as he does so, he’ll learn interesting historical, geographical, cultural, and theological facts as well. If you have younger children, maybe he can assist you in teaching them.

I’m excited about what I’ve learned in writing the GGC books. I want children of all ages, even moms and dads, to enjoy this big picture story of God’s loving relationship with His people. Maybe this is one way to make that happen.
